In the late 1950s Lewis Lee Worley (a.k.a. L.L.or Leafus) and his wife Dorothy, purchased the Emit Rimm bar at the northwest corner of the intersection of County Rd. 428 and County Rd. 432.  This was a favorite watering hole for the area farm workers and local residents.   The Worleys also owned and operated a cotton gin that was located just north of Apache Pass on CR 428 and the workforce enjoyed the cold beverages at the end of a long hot day as well.  In the early 1960s when F.M. 908 was constructed, it divided the Worley’s farm and they decided that a better location for the bar would be on the roadside of the new highway, so they built a new bar. This bar was in continuous operation until it was razed on June 10, 2005 in preparation for the construction of the Apache Pass Ice House.

The Ice House is situated just above Dreamcatcher Lake and will have several features that the group is working on of which will be kind of new to the industry, so to speak.  Stay tuned……
